Did you know 70% of Georgia’s 4th graders aren’t proficient in reading? And 76% of 8th graders can’t do math at grade level? These aren't just numbers on a page to me. They represent real children, with real dreams, who are being left behind.

I’ve been a homeschool mom, a substitute teacher, and a professor. My husband and I have three wonderful children, one of whom we adopted. I’ve seen firsthand how every child learns differently, and how a system that fails to recognize that can truly break a child’s spirit. It’s why those statistics hit me so hard – I see my own kids, and all the kids I’ve taught, in those numbers.

My name is Dr. Nelva Lee, and I’ve spent over 20 years in education and healthcare, even running a vocational school for two decades. Governor Kemp appointed me to a state board, and I’ve dedicated my life to improving opportunities for Georgians. I promise to fight for a statewide mentoring program for every new teacher, ensuring they get the support they need to stay in the classroom, especially in critical areas like special education.

Thousands of Georgia families are already standing with us because they believe, like I do, that we can give every child a brighter future.
